Challenges:
We identified huge gap in Science content in Tamil Wikimedia projects. Many Science encyclopaedia books are yet to be proof-read. Various Tamil Terminologies are not updated in wiktionary. Many Science articles are not created or with poor Translation in Tamil Wikipedia
Approaches:
So we would like to bridge the gap by creating awareness and workshops for science Theme with collaboration of Dindigul District Administration. Dindigul district administration has planned a Science festival in Jan 2026 including various pre festival activities and festival activities in the theme of Science, Technology and Startup. We would like to take this opportunity to create more Wikimedia content and develop local Wiki community.

Build Local Wiki Community to bring sustainable contribution from the district
Few inperson workshops in educational institutions at Dindigul District to make awareness for the Wikimedia projects. Venue will be sponsored or arrangement by Festival Organisers.
Setting up display Stall in festival venue to showcase Wikimedia Science contents in Tamil and encourage more users for Wikimedia Projects. This would be the massive outreach activity to reach Students community about open knowledge movement. We are estimating more than 1 lakh footprints for the stalls.

We are focusing on College Students and Working faculties from various Educational institutions. We also include writers from Dindigul ilakkiya kalam & activists from Tamilnadu Science Forum
Event Campaigns:
District Management is helping us to announce the activities to educational institutions and encourage the participations.
Social Media: We will also broadcast the announce in various social media platforms, education networks, and library associations.
Engagements:
Stall: As we are planning install Stall in Science fest. We encourage visitors to connect with our social media pages. And encourage them to improve about their district.
in-Person Workshop Sessions: As a part of pre-event, We provide Hands-on workshops for selected students and faculties. Continuous Online workshops and engagements will bring community in active. Use WhatsApp/Telegram groups for real-time troubleshooting and progress tracking. Follow-Up:
Post-Festival Support: We will provide one month mentorship window for inperson connect. By featuring the the best contributors in Wikimedia and other social media platforms we are recognising the participants. We will also plan for advance Training and engage them in other ongoing campaigns in Tamil Wikipedia

We are planning to learn Government collaboration with content improvement. This activity will also help us to understand the challenges for contributors from rural district. It also helps us to identify the gaps in our project through participants feedback
