Conduct Wiki Loves Birds 2025 India 2nd Edition. Documenting Birds and Habitats across India and trying to mobilize more peoples and groups to document biodiversity through wikimedia commons and wikidata.
Our approach focuses on bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and public awareness. We aim to document biodiversity systematically, create educational resources, engage students and local communities and create open data biodiversity repositories and enrich biodiversity related wikipedia articles and wikidata.
To address these challenges, the project will focus on

Awareness and education in Wikimedians and Environment groups and institution
Collaboration and networking
Main challenges we are trying to address given below.
- Low content contribution: Increasing the volume and quality of regional Bird Images and Malayalam content on Wikipedia is a persistent challenge.
- Limited awareness: Many people especially environment institutions in Kerala are unaware of Wikimedia projects and their potential impact.

Participants will be photographers ,citizen scientists and college students , especially those interested in biodiversity, conservation, and open knowledge.
Before each event: We will share project details and event announcements through official notices to colleges, as well as via posters, circulars, and digital platforms (Telegram group, website, and social media channels). Orientation sessions and one or two online calls will be organized to introduce students to the objectives of the program and provide clear instructions on how they can participate in workshops and subsequent online activities.
During each event:
- Introductory presentations will be given to participants at the start of each workshop or field activity to explain project goals, progress, and expected contributions.
- Students’ engagement will be closely tracked through activity logs, assignments, and group discussions.
- Mentors, faculty members, and project team colleagues will provide guidance and technical support during offline workshops and field activities.
- For online components, regular support will be provided through virtual meetings, help sessions, and communication channels.
Follow-up after the event:
- All participants will be invited to contribute to follow-up activities such as online edit-a-thons, biodiversity documentation drives, and awareness campaigns.
- A summary of outcomes and opportunities for continued involvement will be shared through institutional groups and public forums.
- Participants will be encouraged to remain active by joining student-led biodiversity and conservation clubs to sustain engagement beyond the project period.
