تمهيد

بسبب نطاق نشاط التحرير واتساع مجاله على ويكيبيديا (مثال)، يحتمل أن يطغى كم المعلومات على المحررين متقدمي المستوى والمراقبين ويشعرون أنهم مغلوبون ولا يعلمون على أي جانب يركزون. أو كما قال واحد من المساهمين: «لو وضع المرء الكثير من المقالات في قائمة المراقبة ورغب في التحقق منها جميعا أو أكبر عدد منهم قدر الإمكان، سيستغرق هذا وقتا طويلا. كما يتطلب الأمر المزيد من الجهد أن ترى التغييرات البنائية التي نفذها محرر آدمي حينما تكون قائمة الاختلافات طويلة جدا ويسودها تغييرات كثيرة أجرتها بوتات.»

يحتاج المساهمون والمحررون لأدوات أفضل وإمكانات أحسن لرفع مستوى جودة مواقعهم الويكي المعنية، خاصة لإبراز مكان التركيز وكيفية التركيز عليه قبل غيره. تشتمل حالات الاستخدام على محررين يرغبون في صيانة جودة محتوى موضوع معين (أي أنظمة المواصلات العامة) التي تتماشى واهتماماتهم الشخصية، وكذا المحررين الذين يسعون للتأكد من أن التعديلات على مواضيع محل تركيز الأخبار الجارية (أي أولمبياد 2024) أو صفحات جديدة تتماشى ومعايير الجودة المفروضة على موقعهم الويكي.

الأغراض

يرتبط مجال التركيز هذا بأهداف مؤسسة ويكيميديا التالية:

• WE1: أن تتضافر جهود المساهمين ذوي الخبرة والجدد على الإنترنت لبناء موسوعة محل ثقة، بسهولة أكبر وإحباط أقل.
• WE2: أن يُقَّدَّمَ للمجتمعات الدعم والمساندة لرأب الفجوة في المعرفة رأبا كفؤا باستخدام أدوات وأنظمة مساندة يسيرة الوصول إليها ويسهل تطويعها وتحسينها، بما يضمن زيادة نمو المحتوى الموسوعي الجدير بالثقة.
