Long-term opportunity
Description

Support a modernized audio player with skip x seconds back functionality, good UI, and chapters (for article sections) could more than double Wikipedia readership when used for spoken Wikipedia audios; also useful for videos on Commons; the audio format has huge potential for Wikimedia Prototyperspective (talk) 21:38, 13 December 2024
Support Having textured 3D models would allow users that are currently hosting those models on proprietary platforms like sketchfab, to have an alternative. Kristbaum (talk) 17:37, 14 December 2024
Support Commons really needs more and better supported formats. VIGNERON (talk) 18:48, 14 December 2024

Support All of these are important, but the 3D models aspect is a crucial category of educational content that is essentially missing in the current status. Waldyrious (talk) 09:09, 15 December 2024
Support This needs to be started now. We need a platform to manage the videos more native: with visualization of visits, with option in Commons to put covers, with several audio tracks, with facility to manage subtitles, with possibility to create clickable subtitles... Support Unless there aren't enough resources for the needed work, there is no reason not to support as many open file formats as possible, or to improve the media players. MGeog2022 (talk) 14:10, 16 December 2024
Support It's a good time to be able to take advantage of the huge number of 3D images created in museums and by private individuals. Clwacker (talk) 19:01, 16 December 2024
Support While I don't support some of these ideas, in general, I do support additional work on these areas. Long term commitment to the health of the media eco system is required BEFORE we can even add new features. TheDJ (talk) 12:17, 17 December 2024
Support I would suggest that the highest priorities should be textured 3d-models and improved viewers/players as. Amphioxi (talk) 12:49, 27 February 2025

Support Many GLAM institutions would benefit greatly from textured 3D support on Commons, particularly with Sketchfab being shut down. Many CC models from Sketchfab could be transferred, some of them nicely illustrating Wikipedia articles. Pelotes71 (talk) 23:23, 8 March 2025
