Improve how categories are presented on articles (Community Wishlist/FA11)

Description

Categories are used to help readers of a wiki find articles by topic, and also to help contributors manage maintenance backlogs. Some volunteers have expressed that the presentation of categories can interrupt flow and cause confusion. Specifically, we’ve seen volunteers ask to group hidden categories to better organize and understand how an article is used, as well as better organization of topic categories. Additionally, the use of categories is limited on mobile, making them harder to manage.

Support Categories are, unfortunately, quite invisible to readers. Paloi Sciurala (talk) 01:32, 4 March 2025

Support Indeed, the appearance of the categories should be improved. And most importantly, categories should not be hidden in the mobile view. It's not just a wish from the editors - I've heard this many times from readers who said it really bothers them that the categories are not visible on mobile, and they have to switch to a computer.
