Transclude templates by relevant historical version (Community Wishlist/W170)

Description

I would like to see how a page looked like in the past, but when it contains a cited template, it uses the template's current form, instead of the version when it was first submitted, even when I got to the view history tab.

I would like to see if it is a technical limit preventing called templates to be called on its historical version.

Support But I imagine it's nigh impossible for Lua modules, not to mention wikis have been accustomed to deleting templates when they are determined obsolete. Nardog (talk) 10:22, 22 October 2025
