Description
Once an article is included in a template, it becomes arduous to discern which articles are directly linked within the text to the target, as it requires a manual check. Automatically, any article that has the same template appears in all the links displays, making it challenging to research further articles (WP:Purpose, WP:RWW) that are specifically relevant to the target.
This was the Top 6 issue of the Wishlist Survey 2022.

Support Yes please! I come across this issue regularly. It has been a problem for over 15 years. Sometimes there can be hundreds of irrelevant results in "What links here". Cagliost (talk) 19:45, 23 February 2026
