Description

Currently, it's quite difficult to use shortened footnotes in VE (link). You type {{, and need to fill out the template manually. This has a couple of difficulties:

  • While you're filling out the template, you cannot see the sources you're citing, so you often make spelling errors. It's not possible to scroll down the article while filling out a template.
  • It does not automatically check if the shortened footnote is connected to a source, so that you often have to correct, for instance when you forget to fill out a year
  • There is no autofill to complete the note, unlike the standard citation reuse
  • You cannot simply copy and existing sfn and change the page number if you want to cite another page of the same source. This would change the original citation as well.
