Description

Normally a user would have to actually visit the watched page for it to display as visited (typically unbolded). This isn't tenable for watchlist processing productivity.

Consider these two scenarios:

  1. I trust the work of the editor or bot who made the change. So I wouldn't need to look at their change at all. I'd rather just tick it off (pretending I visited it).
  2. I use a tool that lets me see the diff of the change inline in the Watchlist, and the change is simple, and agreeable. I don't need to visit the page to confirm this was a reasonable edit, so again, I'd rather just tick it off.

Unless I really need to load the watched page, I don't want to load it as that feels like an unproductive action - it genuinely takes up at least several seconds of my time. I should have a quick way to tick it off as visited (unbold it), perhaps clicking a little eye (👁️) icon. For cases where this is clicked by accident, make it reversible.

I recall this idea was submitted in 2016 but didn't make it. There used to be a user script that provided this functionality, but it no longer works.
