Detect manually duplicated automatic categories (Community Wishlist/W444)

Description
Sometimes, pages are manually placed into categories that are already added automatically by templates, creating redundant entries in the wikitext. While this doesn’t affect how categories display, it clutters page source and makes maintenance harder. It would be useful to have a way to detect pages affected by such duplications.

Support The opposite might also be nice (detecting categories added via a template that should be added manually per w:WP:CAT#T). And distinguishing between manual and template-added stuff could be useful in a whole host of cases. Pppery (talk) 05:58, 13 November 2025
