UI and badges for categorization requests (Community Wishlist/W457)

Description

There's some very active users who have so many todos that they can't possibly handle them all and some users that don't know of many further things to do but would like to help out the Wikimedia projects.

One case of that are categorization tasks on Wikimedia Commons. I created c:Commons:Categorization requests where such tasks can be listed, distinguished by difficulty. However, just very few people find and read it and it's just a plain text page.

It would be great if some UI(s) was built that for example surfaced some of these tasks to users and that doesn't look so boring. Moreover, it may need more incentives or facilitation for users to be more motivated to work on such. An idea for the latter would be badges / counters based on the count of requests implemented by the user by difficulty. Further ideas would be welcome on the talk page here.

For example, (only) tasks in section "Small" and "Missing items" could be shown to newcomers, helping them get started. It would show information needed or relevant to the task type to the user such as info how to browse and add categories and it could have some built-in functionality for checking whether the category is fairly complete and containing only files it should contain (e.g. simply ping the user who made the request asking to check).

The problem is similar for various other kinds of tasks such as requested template edits, file upload requests, batch upload requests, etc etc. This wish could be implemented as part of W316: Suggested tasks based on contributions history (user interests) also for experienced editors or evolve into that or be implemented in parallel.
