Improve the texts displayed for category search results (Community Wishlist/W462)

Description

Descriptions for categories in search results of the Wikimedia search engine are bad. This makes it more difficult to find what one is looking for, makes fewer people use categories which are/can be really useful, and makes it less likely or more difficult for Web search engines to show a good description in their search results.

When searching for something in or including category space where there are category-redirect pages,

it should show the category description of the category redirected to for redirect pages and not a text like This category is located at Category:Group of Seven Note: This category should be empty. Any content should be recategorised. This tag should be used on... for the search cat:g7 on Commons – this is especially useful/needed for categories like c:Category:Penguins which are just redirects to categories with names people are much less likely to search for or know of/understand (here c:Category:Spheniscidae)
it should show either the category description if present or something generated/fetched from the associated Wikidata item or the start of the lead of the main article for the category (this could be implemented via the Wikidata item or via the sort-key) – for example for a search of g7 in category space on Wikipedia, it shouldn't show a text like Wikimedia Commons has media related to G8 by year.... for Category:G7 summits but e.g. a text like The Group of Seven (G7) is an intergovernmental political and economic forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States; additionally, the European Union (EU) is a … from the lead of G7 (note that for many other categories things are simpler than for this category which is a special case since G8 turned into G7)
