Confirmation dialog to prevent accidental clicks on Mark All As Read for notifications (Community Wishlist/W472)

If one clicks the blue button or the notification instead of the Collapse button, one irreversibly marks all the echo notifications as read even without having opened them. This may not be a problem for editors with just one or a few notifications in there but others, mainly very active editors, may have very many todos in there where marking them all as read can be a huge problem as they lose a lot of things they need/wanted to come back to later.
- One can't undo a misclick which can happen.
- For example, one may have a short moment of inattention and thought it was a normal individual notifications and clicked on it to open it but it was that multi-item notification where all the notifications are marked as read.
- Another example is that there can be this popup for example when watchlisting a page that goes away when you click on it but it can happen that when you click on it is a some milliseconds after it had already disappeared and the other "Mark all as read" button is underneath it (it's roughly at the same position).
When clicking the mark all as read button please show a prompt confirmation dialog where the user needs to first confirm they want to mark all the notifications as read to prevent accidentally marking all as read or all crosswiki notifications as read.
I accidentally clicked on it once so I lost some notifications which were things I wanted to come back to eventually once I find the time such as replying to a user in a thread I subscribed to or to a user who replied to me earlier. Now I can't see these notifications anywhere and the accidental mark all as read can't be undone. It would be best if in addition to the confirmation dialog there was also a way to see notifications one didn't actually read but only marked as read in the dropdown (or alternatively if one could undo the multi-markings). This wish would be considered implemented if a confirmation dialog was added. An alternative would be an undo button in the notification dropdown to undo the latest marking(s). There could also be a setting where one can configure whether one would like to see the confirmation dialog – it could have these values:
- Show confirmation dialog for all marking
- Just for multi items (say 20 notifications from one page) – I think this would be a reasonable best default
- Just for mark all as read
- Never
