Blacklist for watchlist (Community Wishlist/W489)

Description

I want to have a blacklist for the watchlist so that when I edit one of them, it's not added to the watchlist, even though the auto-watching option is enabled. They are usually pages that start with Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons... Because it is now possible Enable topic subscription. I don't know if this has been done or suggested before.

Support While one can just uncheck "Watch page" under the summary when creating a page, a denylist for watching would certainly make it unnecessary. Alfa-ketosav (talk) 14:46, 18 January 2026
Support The "add pages I edit to my watchlist by default" preference is greatly lacking in granularity and could benefit from a serious injection of features, including the namespace filtering proposed in this wish. This, that and the other (talk) 08:11, 22 January 2026
Support see phab:T412462 Provide a way for Tools that post messages to talkpages to avoid auto-subscribing the poster – eg I don't want to get notifications for all newer deletion requests on Commons after making a DR or always have villagepump at the top of the Watchlist Prototyperspective (talk) 15:23, 27 March 2026
