Automatically search for broken web links and their corresponding new web links (Community Wishlist/W88/en)
There are tools that detect broken web links and others that mark them and add them to the discussion page. But often users then have to search for the corresponding new web links, which can be very time-consuming. The insertion into the article could also automatically happen once the new web links are found. Very often, the corresponding website has been redesigned and there are new ways to access subpages; it might not be that difficult to have a bot or AI do this. So far, a link to the corresponding Internet Archive page is often provided if one exists. Otherwise, it remains as a dead link. But it would be much better if the new web link is automatically used instead of the one that no longer exists. This would save users a lot of time that could be used for article work.
