Mute some discussions on a busy page (Community Wishlist/W370)

Description

On pages like en:Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) a lot of discussions are going on, and one's Watchlist can be flooded with topics they're not interested in. It would be nice to be able to mute a discussion, say by a button next to the existing Subscribe, so the topic is filtered out of one's Watchlist.

Support I support this in principle, although subscribing has helped tamed my keeping up on Village Pump. Being able to fully watch but mute specific discussions not of interest to me would be useful at times. If implemented, I would prefer the muting function be on the watchlist entry for any talk page that shows an addition/edit to a section. StefenTower (talk) 18:18, 30 October 2025
