Community Wishlist Survey 2017/Archive/Allow IP editors to see talk pages in the mobile browser.

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Allow IP editors to see talk pages in the mobile browser.

Withdrawn by proposer (too many proposals)

  • Problem: Currently if you edit as an IP-user on a mobile device using the mobile browser you don’t see the button 🔘 “Talk” (or “Overleg”, Etc.) anywhere, if you wish 🌠 to access the talk page you have to manually switch to “desktop” mode, then click on “discussion” and then switch back to mobile 📱. But even then you can’t edit the whole page in “Mobile” mode, only individual sections.
  • Who would benefit: Mobile-users 👥.
  • Proposed solution: Allow mobile IP-users to see the talk page button, there’s literally no need to only restricting this to named accounts.

Discussion[edit]

  • I support this. More broadly, access to the talk page should be far more prominent, it's a central vital aspect of our projects. I stopped to use the native app on my mobile because I never found an obvious way to do that. Access talk page should be everywhere (contextual menu, at top and bottom of article, at the beginning of each section and engraved in bold character within the telephone case) rather than nowhere. --Psychoslave (talk) 11:39, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
