Automatic translations of Infoboxes

NoN Not feasible for Community Tech

  • Problem: The translation of InfoBox standards like Speciesbox, chembox, Infobox biography takes long time and looks with no value added. Since the field are standards, the translation can be automatic cross wiki languages.
  • Who would benefit: All user doing articles translation cross wiki languages.
  • Proposed solution: Create a link in edit menu related with automatic translation of Infobox standards.
  • More comments: Development will improve the translations produtivity.

Discussion[edit]

Endorse. We need greater integration between languanges. This proposal is the very least we should aim to. B25es (talk) 19:26, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Are you talking about ContentTranslation? Doesn't it do that already if you have added the English parameter names via TemplateData? --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 07:43, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SA RS BRASIL: Unfortunately, this proposal isn't feasible for our team -- infoboxes aren't actually standard across languages, so the first step would be synchronizing all infobox templates. You can see this page on Wikidata for more info: Wikidata:WikiProject Infoboxes. Thanks for participating in the survey. -- DannyH (WMF) (talk) 19:12, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
