Community Wishlist Survey 2017/Archive/Linksto should be case-insensitive in the first character

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Linksto should be case-insensitive in the first character

Done Completed while the survey was underway.

  • Problem: When using "linksto" with a title beginning with a lowercase letter on a wiki with $wgCapitalLinks set to true, no results appear at all.
  • Who would benefit: Users who want to find links as an alternative to WhatLinksHere, but do not want to force the first letter to be capitalized.
  • Proposed solution: The "linksto" keyword should behave the same as the other keywords. This means that "linksto:foo" (with an initial lowercase letter) should return the same results as "linksto:Foo" (with an initial uppercase letter).

Could you add an example (link) where this is currently being used ? —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 00:03, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TheDJ: Go to en:Special:Search/linksto:main Page and you'll see what I mean here. A proposed solution is at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/rMW8c9fc89ce3d7e0b5064981623dab7fde770af4b2. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:35, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Since the above patch has been merged, this wish is resolved. Max Semenik (talk) 19:18, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
