One click reference tool

  • Problem: Creating reference items on Wikidata is lengthy and complicated. As result it is rarely used and replaced by substandard referencing (stated in : item about database or reference url: bare url) or no reference at all.
  • Who would benefit: WikiData editors, WikiData users (including users of WikiData powered infoboxes)
  • Proposed solution: Create Citoid-like one click reference tool, that will create reference item automatically (+check if reference item for same source already exist).

Discussion[edit]

I agree. Can I close this and we just focus on the other? Anything here you'd like to add to the other one? This will help get more votes in one place instead of having them split over two places. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 19:11, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I just read the other proposal before this one, and was ready to vote on this one although I didn't vote on the other one. I suppose it may be that the language of this proposal is clearer than the other one's regarding the benefits for editors like me. If that clarity isn't preserved through a merge (including possibly a more descriptive title), the total number of votes could end up actually reduced rather than increased. --Waldir (talk) 11:45, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This one is a bit broader. Yes, Citoid may be the one click reference tool, but it can be other tool as well. As mentioned above Citoid may be unknown even for experienced editors, so they do not know its functions.--Jklamo (talk) 16:48, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
