Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Archive/Limiter la durée des mandats
Limiter la durée des mandats
Proposes a social/community policy change rather than a technical feature. Any community that wants to can implement this policy as they see fit.
- Who would benefit: Tous les contributeurs.
- More comments: Rien à ajouter, sinon mon salut à toutes et tous.

pidginglobishanglais.
Discussion
I shall attempt a first-draft translation into English, with assistance from machine translation since my French is elementary. I'm hoping that someone with a better knowledge of French can fix any parts that are grammatically awkward due to my not knowing on my own what the original French says. I also will attempt to tinker with it by machine-translating it from French to Spanish, which I do know well. Global teamwork FTW! 🤣 Lawikitejana (talk) 08:42, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- Problem: Only admins. The indefinite and therefore infinite duration of mandates creates the formation of a "group spirit" [in-group] which has the effect of forming a sort of caste which preserves its position to the detriment of the flow of contributions.
- Who would benefit: All contributors.
- Proposed solution: Limit the duration of mandates (no firm suggestion but one or two years seem like a good option) and the number of mandates (in my opinion, one to three).
- More comments: Nothing to add, otherwise my greetings to all.
- Phabricator tickets: I wonder what "Phabricator tickets" means ... Not very important except that it denotes a very clear "in-group" [clique], only connoisseurs of meandering Wikipedia can decode the term.

Incident note: I submit my proposal in French because my English is insufficient, thank you in advance to whoever will take the trouble to translate mine into pidgin globish English.

- We already do this when we elect stewards, and any wiki can implement this without further technical work – Swedish Wikipedia has one-year terms for admins, 'crats, check users etc. This is a decision that's up to each individual community. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 16:05, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
