Welcome to the Wikimedia Latin America Conference 2026!

In the land of the puma and the hummingbirds, the Wikimedia Latin America Conference 2026 is the regional gathering that brings together the free knowledge community of Latin America and the Caribbean to connect, learn, and build collectively. This year, the event will take place from November 19 to 21, 2026, in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

The central objective of the conference is to strengthen regional collaboration, promote knowledge equity, and showcase local content in a diverse and collaborative way. Through three days of panels, workshops, and co-creation spaces, the event will bring together new contributors, experienced editors, organizers, and members of the technical community to exchange knowledge and design common strategies to address the challenges of our region.

This year's thematic areas:

Self-representation on the Internet: Experiences of historically underrepresented communities (indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, sex/gender diversities and local memories) to narrate themselves in Wikimedia projects.
Socio-technical infrastructure: A space with a practical focus and hackathon to expand and diversify the regional technical community through tools, open data and artificial intelligence.
Innovation in free knowledge: Creative projects and methodologies in education, culture and alliances to inspire new practices within the movement.

Be a part of it! The conference aims to be a horizontal, inclusive, and fraternal space.

Anyone from Latin America and the Caribbean can join the organizing committees, apply for a scholarship, or submit their program proposals, regardless of whether they are part of a local affiliate or if one exists in their country.
