Millions of readers will now be able to get information about COUNTRY’s great history. A total of NUMBER items have been uploaded to Wikidata with a free and open license.

By making the cultural heritage accessible and searchable for tourists, students and knowledge seekers, it will make it easier than ever to learn about COUNTRY’s interesting past and present, and all the beauty there is to be seen in the country.

Local volunteers made it possible

Local volunteers have worked together with cultural institutions in COUNTRY, to identify and collect suitable information needed to organize the photo competition Wiki Loves Monuments, which is held once a year in September. Wiki Loves Monuments is the largest photo contest in the world, and focus on images showing cultural heritage.

– Together we can make a difference. Wikimedia hopes to be able to cooperate with museums, archives and libraries, to continue the work and digitize more cultural heritage for future preservation, says WIKIPEDIAN IN COUNTRY

Wikimedia Sverige shares knowledge

Wikimedia Sverige (Wikimedia Sweden) has been an active partner by sharing technical know-how, experience and information about how to include all the data in the different Wikimedia projects. All this has been done within the project Connected Open Heritage.
