Cross-Project Cooperation Initiative

The Cross-Project Cooperation Initiative (CPCI), formerly known as Cross-Project Collaboration Initiative, is a group of volunteers spanning Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian, and Serbo-Croatian Wikimedia communities. It focuses on strengthening communication between the communities, organizing joint edit-a-thons, coordinating common ventures, and reducing redundant work through better knowledge and experience sharing across all the projects involved.

That is possible as the users of Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian, and Serbo-Croatian Wikimedia projects use regional language variants that are all mutually intelligible as part of the same pluricentric language.

The initiative is supported by numerous users, including many administrators of the involved projects. The CPCI also had the support of the Wikimedia Foundation's Movement Strategy and Governance community facilitators for Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Structure

[edit]

The CPCI makes its decisions during plenary sessions, where all members have a voice and are encouraged to raise issues and discuss them with the rest of the group. The discussions have resulted in specific proposals for local communities, technical implementations, and connections with the broader Wikimedia community.

Aims

[edit]

The aims of the CPCI are as follows:

  1. Connecting editors from different communities
  2. Sharing knowledge and experiences for the benefit of all projects involved
  3. Strengthening the local administrative system and organization of communities
  4. Integrating the local administrative structures of communities
  5. Raising awareness of the importance of cooperation and communication

Objectives

[edit]

The objectives of the CPCI are as follows:

  1. Organizing joint editorial competitions, edit-a-thons, and thematic weeks
  2. Centralizing cross-project communication
  3. Supporting communities in writing and harmonizing policies and guidelines
  4. Establishing an independent cross-project Arbitration Committee to assist in the enforcement of the Universal Code of Conduct
  5. Encouraging discussion in the communities about collaboration and administration

Membership

[edit]

The CPCI is looking for members who show a sincere interest in contributing to the broader community behind the target Wikimedia projects and using these projects to spread free knowledge to all of the approximately 19 million speakers of the pluricentric language.

Anyone is welcome to submit a membership request on the talk page, along with their motivation. Another way to submit a membership request is to contact Aca or Deni.

Membership criteria

[edit]

The CPCI evaluates candidates for membership on a case-by-case basis, considering the factors below and what best complements the group's existing skills.

The following weighs positively when evaluating prospective candidate members.

The candidate member:

  • Must be a constructive editor who has not participated in POV pushing
  • Should not have active blocks on targeted projects
  • Must adhere to the Universal Code of Conduct and Terms of Use
  • Has not participated in spreading disinformation, gaslighting, or any other misconduct

Despite the above guidelines, the group can accept or deny any candidate based on their previous conduct, current group dynamics, and other factors. A consensus of the current members will ultimately decide whether or not a candidate gets admitted into the group.

Expectation of activity

[edit]

Members must participate in the work of the CPCI and at least attend its plenary sessions. Members with personal circumstances are encouraged to take breaks from the CPCI, as needed, after informing the group.

Inactive members shall receive a message regarding their inactivity. Failure to respond to the message within 2 weeks can result in membership removal.
