Deoband Yoruba Collaborative Project/Drives/July 2022 Drive
The July 2022 Drive of the Deoband Yoruba Collaborative Project seeks addition of twenty thematic articles related to the Deoband Community Wikimedia on Yoruba language Wikipedia, and also addition of twenty articles related to Yoruba on the Urdu language Wikipedia. Participants in this drive will be given an e-certificate for their contributions. Top three Indian participants of this drive were given premium t-shirts printed with DCW's logo as a token of appreciation.

Learnings and follow up[edit]
This drive helped DCW volunteers understand various aspects of the knowledge transformation. It was seen that Yoruba related articles were mostly unreferenced and stubs, and related to films and movies, which made it difficult for DCW volunteers in finding relevant available references. Subject to this, Yoruba Wikimedians did change some articles with those about geographical areas but the general condition of these articles was not good on English Wikipedia. That is to say, Yoruba Wikimedians need to work on English Wikipedia and improve Yoruba-related content.
Faismeen noted that, "it is generally a good idea to work on such proposals but it was a tough experience, nonetheless a good one." Yoruba Wikimedians on the other hand were training new comers and that made the transformation of DCW's theme into Yoruba language a bit difficult. Articles were not translated completely, some articles were just given a few paragraphs and no good care of reference templates was seen in place. Given all such intricacies, DCW volunteers are supposed to discuss the nature and aspects of upcoming drive in November 2022.
