Introduction: My name is Jeromi Mikhael and I am a long-time Wikimedia contributor. Having edited Wikipedia since 2018, I am a member of several communities such as the Jakarta Wikimedia Community, Wikimedia Indonesia, and Wikiportraits. I contribute to the English and Indonesian Wikipedia, as well as Wikimedia Commons, though I'm most active at the English Wikipedia. Throughout my contributing tenure, I edited different areas, ranging from Russian songs, heraldry, and vexillology during my first years, to Indonesian-related biographies more recently, though currently I'm more focused on improving the quality of Indonesian diplomacy related articles on the Wikipedia. I am engaged with the ESEAP community since my first Wikimania at Singapore in 2023, and since then I've regularly participated in ESEAP briefings and meetings, thus keeping me updated with the development of the Hub and the communities inside it.

Movement contribution: I have been registered at Wikipedia for more than eight years at this point, and has logged in more than 50,000+ global edits on different projects.

Governance experience: I am an administrator at the Indonesian Wikipedia since 2023.

Statement: I am applying for community connector as a representative of the Indonesian community. My nomination is motivated by the desire to 1) bridge the potentials of Indonesia's local community and the wide opportunities available and 2) to utilize diplomacy related topics and subject within the Wikimedia projects as a way to strengthen the ties between different ESEAP communities.

The 1st point, from what I've obtained through discussions in local meetups or conferences, is a problem that's been the main concern of communities all over Indonesia. Informations on capacity building programs, projects, and conferences that are wiki-related was limited, and even if they managed to get hold of the information they are confused on what should they do afterwards. I volunteer myself to resolve these problems by pushing forward cross cultural and cross border initiatives that could open new windows and build understandings between different communities.

The 2nd point stems from my own experience interacting with ESEAP contributors. It is apparent that diplomacy related issues, such as ambassadors, presentation of credentials, and embassies seem to be a very much common topic amongst fellow ESEAP contributors. Despite this, possibilities on cross chapter or institutional cooperation regarding diplomatic topic are rarely explored upon by the chapters. There is a ton of information that could be exchanged in regards to this issue, such as informing diplomacy related contributors regarding changes in ambassadorial position, presentation of credentials, and documenting embassies in their respective countries. Aside from this, diplomacy related topics could be pushed forward as a gateway for dialogue with various IOs within ESEAP, such as ASEAN or APEC. These kind of opportunities benefits not only the Hub, but also the local communities in a wider scope than the 1st point.

Should I be elected I aim to empower Indonesian local community through all means possible available by the Hub and explore diplomacy-related cooperation opportunities. I believe that, in accordance to Wikipedia's prime directive, "every single person" regardless of their background is entitled to "free access to the sum of all human knowledge", and that the ESEAP Hub is the primary means to achieve it on a regional scale.
