ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025/Report/Hillun Vilayl Napis (WMID)
I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity to attend the ESEAP Summit for the second time, six years after I attended the first ESEAP Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

Things learned at the Strategy Summit
[edit]I noticed that more participants came to the ESEAP Strategy Summit than 6 years ago. I was glad to see more representation from underrepresented communities in this summit. Here are some points that I learned in the ESEAP Strategy Summit:
- I understand more about advocacy because there was a session on collective advocacy action at ESEAP. The Wikimedia Foundation advocacy team also received input from participants about the need for a guidebook on advocacy because the term advocacy has been considered difficult.
- I often hear discussions about the ESEAP Hub, but I don't really understand how many positions and roles in the hub. At the ESEAP Summit, participants were given handouts to better understand the hub and practiced role-playing.
Things the participant contributed or participated in since the Summit
[edit]Before the summit
[edit]There are only two direct flight options from Jakarta to Manila, the early morning flight or the afternoon flight. I chose the afternoon flight and met with 5 other Wikimedians (Biyanto, Rachmat, Jeromi, Zhilal, and Bayu) at Jakarta Airport. Once we arrived at the hotel, we had dinner at Robinsons mall shortly after. I finally tried Jollibee, the famous chicken in the Philippines.

Post summit
[edit]I went to another mall in Manila (SM Mall of Asia) and had lunch there. I visited souvenir shop called Kultura, this was recommended by Rafli. I bought a totebag with Manila written on it (the same totebag as the one given by the committee), but in a different color.
Your plans after the summit
[edit]I am interested in collaborating with other Wikimedia communities. In an open mic session for cross-border collaboration, there was an interesting idea, which was to create Wikidata item about drama series in each country. I think this is a collaboration with a fun topic. I have conveyed this idea to the Wikidata team at Wikimedia Indonesia. Hopefully, Wikimedia Indonesia can participate.
Comments and suggestions about the Summit
[edit]For future ESEAP events, the committee should provide car or bus for airport transfer. If using Grab, the waiting time is quite long and sometimes the driver cancels the order. Also, I recommend to have 1 car on stand by at the event location (hotel or museum) to anticipate any emergency conditions.
