ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025/Report/Zirconaut

Event Volunteers Gaspé Umbac and Ernest Malsin at the ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025

I attended the ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025 as an Event Volunteer. I am a member of Pilipinas Panorama Community (PPC), a thematic organization. I was invited to join the summit by Johnny Alegre, who is part of the ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025 Core Organizing Team.

As a volunteer, I was tasked with welcoming and assisting delegates arriving from other countries at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA 3).

Together with Ernest Malsin, another volunteer from PPC, we met and assisted the following delegates:

Day 1 – May 21, 2025 Dianne Erica Skelton and Belinda Patricia Spry from Australia

Day 2 – May 22, 2025 • Man Dick Lui and Ka Wing Or from Hong Kong • Athikhun Suwannakhan, Jaturawit Rodcheewan, and Sarawut Khamset from Bangkok, Thailand • Arlawka and Ya Tha Win Tha from Myanmar

Aside from encountering some minor issues with booking Grab rides, we faced no major problems in completing our task. It was truly delightful to meet delegates from different countries, help them feel welcome, share basic information about the Philippines, and ensure their safe transfer to the hotel.

During the summit itself, it was a great experience for me as a first-time attendee. I learned a lot about the activities and initiatives of the Wikimedia Community within the region and globally. The accommodations provided were excellent, and it was very exciting to interact with people from various countries and backgrounds.

Overall, volunteering at the ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025 was a fulfilling and enriching experience.
