ESEAP Strategy Summit 2027

The ESEAP Strategy Summit 2027 is a proposed strategy summit for the leadership of the Wikimedia affiliates, related groups, and members of ESEAP Hub.

Background

East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific are the most under-represented regions within the Wikimedia community. There is a significant number of Wikimedia contributors in our regions, and after years of discussions and effort from the community, we have a fledging ESEAP Hub structure. This conference will bring participants from various ESEAP communities together in order to look what we have accomplished in retrospect, better understand on-going issues, identify new challenges, and to look for solutions. It also aims to connect people of the Wikimedia movement within ESEAP regions, to share ideas, and to build regional collaborations that are impossible to achieve through online communication.

Objectives

ESEAP Summit 2027 is envisioned to be a strategic gathering for leaders in the ESEAP region to continuously support volunteers and affiliates. This edition of the Summit will mark as the second year of ESEAP Hub's official establishment. The Summit is organized to meet the following objectives:

1. Bringing together ESEAP leaders to accelerate ESEAP contribution to Wikimedia Movement
2. Transitioning from governance design to practical operationalization and capacity building to support content development in various Wikiprojects by the affiliates
3. Supporting the inclusion of emerging communities, language diversity, and easier access for newcomers such as presence in ESEAP and global movement.
4. Strengthening peer to peer mentorship and collaborative projects in ESEAP.
