Training of students on Igbo Wiktionary and Wikidata. My project experience
- Summary of the session:
I conducted several pieces of training for Students of Government Girls secondary school bwari Abuja, The training was to introduce them to Wikimedia foundation its vision, mission, and sister projects. There were edit a thon, especially on Igbo wiktionary and Wikidata. It involved many students and some teachers and finally led to the creation of a Wiki club in the school. It spanned between 2018 to 2020 . In 2021 I conducted two similar trainings at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Akwa on Igbo Lexicography and Igbo Wikipedia. The first was for the students while the second for the lecturers of the University.
- Outcome of the session:
- At the end of the training, the participants learnt new Igbo words and their meanings
- How to use the words in sentence construction and classification of the words
- For wikidata they learnt the names and biography of many Nigerian women in politics and media
- Language:
Igbo and English
