Launch of e-book on open science and scientific dissemination

In December, Wikimedia Brasil launched the e-book (in Portuguese) "Open Science and Scientific Dissemination – Challenges and Opportunities," which is a direct result from the event with the same name that took place at University of São Paulo on September 4, 2025. The book is freely available on Wikimedia Commons.

This work presents seven titles with theoretical reflections, experience reports, and critical analyses on the emergence and challenges of open science in Brazil, with special attention to the intersections between digital scientific dissemination and the Wikimedia platforms. Among the authors are the researchers Alexander Hilsenbeck, João Alexandre Peschanski, Edney Cielici Dias, Débora Peres Menezes, Washington Luís Ribeiro de Carvalho Segundo, Priscila Sena, Lilian Viana, Marcus Vinícius Pereira da Silva, Isis Trajano, and Eduarda Centeno.

The History in Cinema project

Wikimedia Brazil has supported another activity in partnership with UNEB Jacobina. "The History in Cinema" project, coordinated by Professor Valter Gomes Santos de Oliveira, aims to create and expand entries on films about history in Wikipedia in Portuguese. This is part of the activities developed in the classes of Aspects of Modern Europe and Europe in the Age of Revolutions, both offered by the Department of Human Sciences at campus IV, at the State University of Bahia.

Activities in Pedagogical Training

Another activity within the context of the partnership with UNEB Jacobina took place in the Pedagogical Training III course, taught by Professor Polliana Moreno dos Santos. As part of the research project "Observatory of Schools in the Piemonte of Diamantina and Jacuípe Basin – Bahia", which is part of the "Interfaces of Knowledge: Jacobina on Wiki" project, a survey was conducted regarding basic education schools in local cities.
