Teachers who graduated from the Leamos Wikipedia program in Bolivia become mentors for their colleagues
As we already anticipated in March, Wikimedistas de Bolivia started the work of the program Leamos Wikipedia en 2025 and this work began in the Simón Bolívar 1 Educational Unit, one of the most traditional educational spaces in the center of the city of La Paz.
The Educational Unit is part of the Educational District 1 where in 2024 we also carried out the training process and achieved the graduation of about 20 teachers, including both teachers. This year, 2025, we received the invitation from the Simón Bolívar 1 Educational Unit, thanks to the initiative of teachers María Cristina and Magui.
How did they contribute?
Both teachers, in addition to promoting the training process in their educational unit, during the face-to-face workshops encouraged participation and discussion of topics such as: Connectivity in formal education processes.

How students are accessing information on the Internet. What is the degree of security we can promote among students when surfing the web.
Of course, they also supported the teachers in the development of classroom activities.
We are happy that both teachers, Maria Cristina and Magui, have joined the volunteer community, but we are even happier that a new community of teachers enthusiastic about free knowledge is taking shape in Bolivia.

How do we get started?
The first training group of Let's Read Wikipedia in the Classroom is very enthusiastic and participatory.
We want to highlight the generational diversity of this group of female teachers, ranging from 34 to 70 years old, who without any fear of facing technology took on the challenges and activities of the program with great enthusiasm.
What comes next?
For the second quarter, Wikimedistas de Bolivia is planning new rounds of the teacher training program in at least two new municipalities.
The enthusiasm and desire to learn new things left by the first group of teachers is high and we expect to find great surprises in the lesson plans that this group of teachers will develop, as well as in the new groups that will take on the challenge of accompanying the learning processes of their students on the Internet.
