Activities series at the Shefit Hekali school in Peqin, Albania
From February to April 2025, 22 students and 4 teachers will participate in a series of activities designed to increase their digital literacy and research skills and use Wikipedia as a teaching tool in class.
Working in three groups, students will focus on researching and adding content to Wikipedia, fact and language checking, and uploading photos to Wikimedia Commons to document Peqin and its surroundings.
During the workshop training, students learned about Wikimedia projects, created their accounts, and learned how to edit articles, upload pictures, and edit items on Wikidata. They also played Wikeys, an interactive game that helped them understand how Wikipedia works and enhanced their digital literacy related to Wikipedia.
Throughout February, students met regularly and worked in groups to practice and improve articles, while in March, they plan to go on field trips to take and upload images on Wikimedia Commons, researching, and expanding articles on Wikipedia.
This initiative helps strengthen their skills in contributing to free and online knowledge about their region.
