Wiki Club SATI (South Asia Technical Initiatives) and the Commons Photographers User Group (CPUG) jointly organised a Photowalk at the 52nd Khajuraho Dance Festival 2026, a UNESCO-listed heritage site and two-time Guinness World Record holder. A team of 11 Wikimedians covered the event from 20-23 February 2026, documenting over 1,200 high-quality images, videos, and audio recordings, now freely available on Wikimedia Commons. Alongside the photowalk, three workshops on ethical documentation, image post-processing, and audio post-processing were conducted, offering participants both technical skills and a mindful approach to open knowledge contribution. This was a particularly meaningful experience for six newly joined Wikimedians attending their first photowalk, who gained hands-on fluency in photography, Wikimedia contribution, and licensing. For many, it was a transformative introduction moving them from passive observers to confident contributors, and leaving them with a lasting understanding that documentation is not merely a technical skill, but a powerful act of cultural preservation.
