Stronger and bolder Wikiforhumanrights 2025 in Anambra Network

Summary: The Anambra Network of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria embraced the Wikiforhumanrights 2025 with inspiration and promises for new learning. It was not our first time, but we envisaged, this was special, and we lived up to it. From the online training to the physical event, we used the spaces to educate, learn new things, display our skills and share with the world. We worked on Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikivoyage and the translation of articles to the Igbo language. It was a collaborative campaign that was nationally organized by Agnes Abbah and Kemi Makinde in Nigeria. Six other communities in Nigeria joined in the campaign.

The Anambra Network WFHR For us in the Anambra Network, we make every Wikimedia project come alive. The WHFR 2025 was led by Ngozi Perpetua Osuchukwu with support from Goodluck Ajunwa and Peace Chinwendu Anyanwu. These are experienced Wikimedians, who also facilitated the series of training. The physical training took place at Book Foundation, Awka, while the online sessions were carried out over Zoom. These took place in the month of November 2025.

The participants in Anambra Neiwork were trained and encouraged to publish Wikipedia articles for the first time. It was really great, and they have not stopped talking about that. The campaign created spaces for learning and improving of digital skills of the participants. It was a great feat for them. We also went in for the Wikidata and the Wikivoyage which added so much value.

Mapping the learning As learning never ends, we mapped out three online sessions and one physical event to emphasize climate change issues and environmental sustainability. Anambra State has a history of climate change that borders on flooding, erosion and other factors that disturb our planet. Thus, we aimed to obtain knowledge on different degrees of climate change and the perception of the hazards on human rights. We also carried out an evaluation of the campaign that had 29 respondents which revealed the success of the campaign.

The feat by Anambra Network The Anambra Network displayed astute digital skills that met the targets of the campaign. The Network also achieved the feat of first position for the most contributions on Wikivoyage for WFHR 2025 in Nigeria. The WFHR 2025 in Anambra Network was value added.
