Brazil was present at the EduWiki Conference 2025 in Bogotá

From May 30 to June 1, Wikimedia Brazil was present at the EduWiki Conference 2025 in Bogotá, which was attended by academics, coordinators, educators and volunteers from over 30 countries to discuss the relationship between the Wikimedia projects and formal education.
With eight representatives, brazilians talked about Capacity Exchange, the creation of MOOCs on Wikiversity, the use of AI on Wikipedia and Wikidata, the interaction between librarians and teachers in the use of Wikipedia as an educational resource in the classroom, the georeferencing of data from Brazilian public schools by Wikidata, the creation of support courses for university professors, the presence of research groups on Wikiversity and the update of the Wikeys game.
Finally, the group participated in the launch of the EduWiki Hub, which aims to better structure the actions of the Wikimedia movement in the education field.
Workshop Architectures of the Global South for the Wiki
In June, the second part of the Workshop Global South Architecture for Wiki was held at Escola da Cidade. On this occasion, students learned hands on how to edit on Wikipedia. They worked with articles about monuments and architects from South America.
In addition to Wikipedia, they also uploaded images to Wikimedia Commons. In some cases, since there were no images of the monuments, the students created illustrations of the architectural plans.
Edit-a-thons at Federal University of Alfenas
Wikimedia Brazil helped organize two online edit-a-thons at the Federal University of Alfenas (MG) in partnership with Professor Rogério Grassetto Teixeira da Cunha.
The first of these was the Edit-a-thon Environmental Law. The second was the Edit-a-thon Animal Behavior. Undergraduate students of these two disciplines will have until the end of July to work on Wikipedia articles in Portuguese about both topics.
Biodiversity on Wiki
As part of its educational resources, Wikimedia Brazil has released a material about Biodiversity on Wiki, which includes a video and a brochure on the topic. Both show the importance of discussing biodiversity, how Wiki platforms can contribute to this issue, and activities carried out by WMB to improve content on the topic.
