The Wikimedia movement around the world is working to promote the implementation of Wiki projects in teaching. In Serbia, more than 70 schools and faculties have used Wikipedia in teaching so far. Serbia was the first country to start the practice of introducing Wikipedia in the school and academic environment, while today this project is being implemented worldwide. The program has been implemented in Serbia since 2005, and its first mention was at the seminar of the Department of Computer Science and Informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics.

During the last school year alone, hundreds of students from all over Serbia participated in the projects of the Wikipedia Education Program. Participants and students acquired the skills of editing Wikipedia, but also critical thinking and proper research of sources. Their work is available to the general public and free for use by pupils and students who are just going through the project. The Education Program of Wikimedia Serbia has been developing for years and will continue to introduce innovations in accordance with the modern education system.
