Wikimedia goes back to the classroom in Brazil
Animal Ecology Workshop
For the second consecutive year, Wikimedia Brasil went to the Department of Ecology at the University of São Paulo to give a workshop to undergraduate students of professors Marco Mello and Isabel Santos.
The goal of this activity was to teach the students how to edit on Wikipedia so that they can complete the final assignment of the class, which is editing Wikipedia entries related to animal ecology.
Workshop on the Greater ABC Region

Another education workshop in the classroom was held in partnership with the University of São Caetano do Sul. In the Technology and Education class, taught by Professor Liráucio Girardi Jr. and Carlos A. F. Brito, students learned about the various projects within Wikimedia and edited entries on Wikipedia about the Greater ABC region.
Open Data Day in Brazil

Open Data Day is celebrated annually to promote the use of open data as a tool to address social, environmental, and economic challenges. With meetings held worldwide, including in Brazil, the event featured the participation of Wikimedia Brasil in Rio Grande do Sul. On March 7th, Artur Corrêa organized an edit-a-thon at the Goethe-Institut in Porto Alegre to update the population data of Brazilian indigenous peoples on Wikidata using QuickStatements and OpenRefine.
Also within the context of Open Data Day, the workshop Crowdsourcing and the Practices of Black Public History in Wikimedia Projects took place. Organized by Professor Geferson Santana from the Editorial History Laboratory, the event aimed to promote the critical, collaborative, and anti-racist use of open data through editing Wikidata and Wikipedia.
Workshop on Disseminating Cultural Heritage, Networking, and Advocacy in Educational Policies

The Disseminating Cultural Heritage, Networking, and Advocacy in Educational Policies workshop was held in conjunction with the Management Committee of the Chapada dos Guimarães Geopark. The objective was to use Wikipedia editing to disseminate scientific and historical information about the Chapada dos Guimarães Geopark, strengthen its territorial identity, support its candidacy for UNESCO recognition, and engage the Mato Grosso society around the topic.
XXXIX Wikimedia & Education Workshop
The 39th Wikimedia & Education Workshop took place on March 25th and featured presentations by Laura Kochhann, Heitor Carvalho Jorge and Célio Costa Filho to discuss the Tobacco Control on Wiki project, a partnership between WMB and ACT Promoção da Saúde.
