Workshop on Feminism and Folklore 2026 by Wiki Club SATI
On 21st March 2026, Wiki Club SATI – South Asia Technical Initiatives organised the Workshop on Feminism and Folklore 2026 in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, India, as part of the global Feminism and Folklore campaign.
- 21 students from Samrat Ashok Technological Institute participated as first-time Wikipedia contributors.
- Participants collectively created 20+ new Wikipedia articles on women in regional languages.
- The workshop introduced students to Wikipedia editing, article writing, and Wikimedia Commons uploads.
- The event advocates for gender equity in open knowledge and regional language representation on Wikipedia.
The beginner-friendly offline workshop brought together 21 first-time Wikipedia contributors students from Samrat Ashok Technological Institute for a full day of hands-on editing focused on documenting women's lives and contributions. By the end of the day, participants had collectively created 20+ new Wikipedia articles on women, written in regional languages, bringing these narratives closer to the communities they belong to.
The event was organised by Aanchal Patel and featured talks by experienced Wikimedians Suyash Dwivedi and Riddhi Sharma, covering Wikipedia's core policies, article writing, and Wikimedia Commons uploads.
The workshop is part of Wiki Club SATI's ongoing efforts to build a local Wikimedia contributor community and promote open knowledge, gender equity in content, and regional language representation on Wikipedia.
