Kosovo Wikivoyage Editathons in Gjakova and Krusha e Madhe

Summary: This autumn, the Wikimedians of Albanian Language User Group continued their collaboration with Kultus NGO through two editathons focused on creating and improving digital tourism content on Wikimedia platforms. These activities were part of the Kullë’Tech project, supported by the Ministry of Regional Development.

The first editathon took place in Gjakova, where participants received training on contributing to Wikivoyage with information about local tourism. The training marked the beginning of a series of sessions in Gjakova, Rahovec, and Junik aimed at documenting the tourism trail that connects these municipalities.

A second activity was organized in Krusha e Madhe, where we worked with students from SHMU “Bajram Curri”. During the session, participants made their first contributions to Wikivoyage as a free travel guide, Wikimedia Commons by uploading photos of local heritage and nature, and Wikipedia by improving encyclopedic content related to the area.

The training introduced young participants to how Wikimedia projects can be used to present local history, culture, nature, and agrotourism potential in a digital and accessible way. During the visit, participants also explored the Museum of the Krusha e Madhe Massacre, a deeply impactful cultural and historical site.
