Annual Czech Wiki Conference took place on Saturday, Nov 8th

Summary: On Saturday November 8th, annual Community Wiki Conference of the Czech community took place in Kampus Hybernská in Prague. More than 60 members of the Czech community and some special guests presented their ideas and thoughts for wide audience, including lecturers, seniors or young wikimedians.

Community Wikiconference is a celebration of the active part of Czech Wikimedians. More than 60 young wikimedians, seniors, educators and experts joined full programme of 25 keynotes, panel discussions or lightening talks. Issues such as Wikimedia projects and influence of large language models, use of Wikipedia in education or tech news for Wikimedians inspired participants from all parts of the Czech community. Part of the programme were keynotes from Czech experts, such as Josef Šlerka, Robert Kartous or Josef Holý, who warned from the boom of disinformation and LLM hallucinations taking over the content of Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. Tailored workshops for teachers in participation with National Paedagogical Institute helped teachers how to use Wikipedia in education or use AI as a tool for improving content of Wikipedia with students. More information and full programme is at Wikikonference page, photos are available at Wikimedia Commons.
