New Record: 5 Events in Municipal Library within two Months!

During September and October of 2024, we have managed to organize five events of various formats. Three training sessions for librarians from Municipal Library Prague, one editathon aimed at missing articles on library branches and personalities and – initial workshop Theatre and Encyclopaedia aimed at theatrological issues in relation to encyclopaedias.
Tutorings mainly focus on elementary skills with editing Wikipedia and other WMF projects. We have closely focused on how to work with uploading images and connecting items to wikidata (or editing them).
First ever workshop organized on Monday September 9th aimed at practical goals to be reached by participants. Several librarians tried to organise pattern used for mentioning of branches of the library throughout Prague districts in the main article about Municipal Library in Prague.
Some employees had an original idea, which we started to work on. New article on Musical Department of the Library is a big issue – this Department will have a new location in few years (which is a new building of Czech Filharmony called Vltava Filharmony). Special guest for this encounter was Jiřina Kádnerová, former director of Central Bohemian Library and enthusiastic Wikipedian.
Final workshop took place for experts in the field of theatre. On Friday October 11th, several representatives of Theatrical Institute (Divadelní ústav) and theatre studies students from Filosofical Faculty of Charles University gathered to discuss matters of creating articles in Czech Theatre Encyclopaedia Project, as well as on Wikipedia. Similarities and differences were thoroughly discussed, but also – new ways of cooperation arised and will be followed.
Partnership of Wikimedia ČR and Municipal Library in Prague never seemed so fruitful and consensual. We all hope that it will flourish in years to come.
