WikiDonne has been recognized with the Open Education Award 2025 in the How We Share/Open Practices category by Open Education Global for its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion approach. The Wiki Science Competition 2025 India, led nationally by Dev Jadiya, is connecting education, science, and open knowledge through a network of more than 18 Campus Ambassadors across India. Teachers, students, and researchers are learning how to share science through Wikimedia Commons — turning classrooms and labs into hubs of open collaboration. Read more…

Wikimedia Czech Republic made a huge step forward regarding the interaction with specific target groups, who are – or could be – involved in Wikimedia projects update. Throughout October 2025, Wikimedia MKD carried out several educational and collaborative activities with academic institutions and schools across Skopje. These included the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Wikipedia editing workshops for students from Gymnasium “Josip Broz Tito” and Nova International School, participation in a student event at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and a thematic workshop titled “Rivers and Lakes in Slovenia.” Read more…

Africa Wiki Challenge 2025 in Nigeria spanned a month with four communities from Nigeria joined to translate articles into Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Tyap under the theme "Reclaiming Our Narrative: Justice for Africans and the Diasporas through Reparations. Read more…

The Education team at Wikimedia Indonesia collaborated with the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) to hold a Wikipedia writing training (WikiLatih) on August 25, 2025, attended by lecturers and staff. The event aimed to improve the representation of Indonesian academics on Indonesian Wikipedia and teach basic editing skills, including article standards and source reliability. Participants also learned to connect their work to Wikidata. The training produced 22 new academic biographies and promoted open education by encouraging universities to contribute to the open knowledge ecosystem. Read more…

The Digital Arabic Content Association (JDACA) partnered with Amman Arab University’s Faculty of Pharmacy to conduct a hands-on Wikipedia editing workshop in November 2025, in celebration of Asian Wikipedia Month. The workshop introduces students to Wikipedia as an educational tool, enhances existing content, and creates new articles on Asian-related topics, promoting digital literacy and collaborative learning. At Purdue University, graduate students in a systematic review course used the open-access Wikipedia–Kaggle Structured Contents Snapshot dataset to explore automation in evidence synthesis, practicing text mining for objective search term generation and AI-assisted summarization.
