Egypt Wikimedians User Group/Events/Arabic Language Day 2025

In conjunction with UN Arabic Language Day, observed annually on December 18, the Egypt Wikimedians User Group organized an online seminar titled "Arabic Language between Influence and Interaction" on December 19, with the participation of faculty members from Cairo University.
The seminar was divided into two parts. In the first part, Dr. Mahmoud Zaki discussed the global status of the Arabic language through two main themes:
- The journey toward the adoption of Arabic as an official language of the United Nations.
- The designation of 18 December as the UN day for celebrating the Arabic language.
In the second part, Dr. Mahmoud Tawfiq examined the Arabic language and its relationship with foreign languages, addressing several topics, including language contact, the relationship between Arabic and other languages, mutual influence, linguistic borrowing, and perceptions of the Arabic language among Orientalists.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Walaa Abdel Moneim.
