Egypt Wikimedians User Group/Projects/Documenting Nubian Heritage
The Documenting Nubian Heritage is a project launched by the Egypt Wikimedians User Group on March 31, 2026, to document and share both the tangible and intangible elements of Nubian heritage across Wikimedia projects, making them freely accessible to everyone. The project seeks to help preserve one of Egypt's oldest and richest cultural legacies, encompassing a long history of traditions and customs, handicrafts, arts, and ways of life that define the identity of the Nubian community.
The project focuses on creating high-quality, freely licensed digital content while creating and improving articles related to Nubian heritage across various Wikimedia projects. It also aims to encourage the participation of local communities and volunteers in documentation efforts and to increase the global visibility of Nubian heritage through Wikimedia's free knowledge platforms.
