Overview

The AWA Digitalise Youth Project 2026 is designed to support experienced African Wikipedians to amplify youth voices and civic engagement by closing content gaps on Wikipedia and Wikidata about digital rights issues across Cameroun, Ethiopia, and Sudan. It focuses on topics such as the African Union Convention on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection, e-democracy, digital mobilisation in social movements, SDG16, freedom of expression, and human rights, particularly in countries facing censorship, surveillance, and online disinformation.

How to participate

1 Sign in or Create a New Account on Wikipedia if you haven't.

2 Register on the event page and the to track your contributions.

3 Attend virtual training sessions, participate in the edit-a-thon and complete the participants contribution form.

4 Create, expand and/or translate articles and Wikidata items related to the focus area from the topic list.

5 While publishing your edits, include this hashtag to your edit summary: #AWA-DYF
