About Event

[edit]

The KNUST Wiki Club is proud to be a contributing partner in the Africa Wiki Challenge 2025, an initiative spearheaded by Open Foundation West Africa (OFWA) to bridge the content gap about Africa on Wikipedia and its sister platforms. As part of this year's fifth edition, taking place from May 25th to July 31st, 2025, the Club is actively engaging in efforts to document and amplify Africa’s diverse stories, cultures, achievements, and pressing challenges. The Africa Wiki Challenge aligns with the Club’s mission to promote open knowledge and digital literacy within the KNUST community and beyond. Through article creation, photo contributions, and capacity-building workshops, members of the KNUST Wiki Club are playing a vital role in enriching the global digital narrative about Africa; correcting misinformation, addressing content scarcity, and ensuring that African voices and experiences are well represented online. By participating in this continental campaign, the KNUST Wiki Club is not only empowering students and young volunteers with skills in research and digital contribution but also contributing meaningfully to the broader goal of reshaping Africa’s visibility and credibility in the digital space.
