What can be funded? Edit-a-thons, workshops, outreach campaigns, classroom programs, and community events.

Funding per request: Maximum funding per request is from 500USD – 1500 USD.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be individuals, groups, or organisations in Africa engaged in Wikimedia projects and be in good standing with the Wikimedia community.
Projects must:
* Align with Wikimedia’s mission.
* Focus on creating, improving, or sharing Africa-related content.
* Demonstrate clear impact for African communities.
* Align with this year’s Africa Wiki Challenge theme: AWC 2026 – Water for Life in Africa.

3. Decision & Announcement Committee finalizes decisions and announces results 15 May – 21 May 2026
4. Fund Disbursement Transfer of grant funds to recipients 22 May – 31 May 2026
5. Project Implementation Carry out the project activities 1 June – 30 June 2026
Your project will help document Africa’s water, environment, and heritage across Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata—strengthening Africa’s voice in global knowledge and supporting Agenda 2063.
