Water have different importants like irrigation and it is used for making electricity it is even attract tourist through visiting lakes , livers plus others which contribute to the improved tourisms. And there is scinario which says that no life with out water coz as we know water on the earth is 70% of earh's surface and its mostly important in our blood coz helps in blood circulation , kidney filtration it assists olso in digestion system. As humans we have to protect all invironment including water , animals, forests, due to their importants
Africa Wiki Challenge 2026 in Rwanda
[edit]The Africa Wiki Challenge 2026 in Rwanda is the national edition of the continental Africa Wiki Challenge 2026 campaign. The initiative brings together students, educators, photographers, researchers, environmental advocates, and Wikimedia volunteers to document Rwanda's water resources, water access systems, sanitation initiatives, and water-related cultural heritage on Wikimedia projects.
The campaign contributes to the global theme:
Water for Life in Africa
Through this campaign, participants will create, improve, translate, and illustrate content related to water across Rwanda while contributing to global knowledge equity and sustainable development.
About Rwanda and Water
[edit]Water plays a vital role in Rwanda's economy, environment, public health, transportation, agriculture, tourism, and cultural identity. Rwanda is home to numerous lakes, rivers, wetlands, springs, and water infrastructure that support millions of people.
Key water resources include:
- Lake Kivu
- Akagera River
- Nyabarongo River
- Mukungwa River
- Wetlands and marshlands across Rwanda
- Community water supply systems
- Irrigation infrastructure
- Water treatment facilities
The challenge seeks to document these resources and their impact on communities throughout Rwanda.
Objectives

- Increase quality information about water-related topics in Rwanda.
- Improve representation of Rwanda's environmental and water heritage online.
- Upload photographs of water resources and sanitation infrastructure to Wikimedia Commons.
- Create and improve Wikipedia articles in English, French, Kinyarwanda, and other languages.
- Promote environmental awareness and sustainable water management.
- Engage new contributors in Wikimedia projects.
