Event:African Wiki Women/Leadership and Fellowship Program Charter/2025 Graduation

The Africa Wiki Women Leadership and Mentorship Programme is thrilled to announce the graduation of its 2025 Cohort (April–October 2025). This is a milestone that highlights the dedication, resilience, and innovation of women shaping the future of the Wikimedia movement in Africa.
Out of 84 inspiring applications received from across the continent, nine outstanding fellows from Nigeria, Uganda, Egypt, Ghana, Tanzania, and Madagascar were selected after a thorough review and selection process which happened between March and April 2025. Over the past six months, these fellows have journeyed together through an intensive experience designed to strengthen their confidence, leadership capacity, and impact within the open knowledge space.
Throughout the programme, they led projects, built communities, and contributed to knowledge equity while amplifying the visibility of African women’s voices online under the guidance of Ruby D-Brown, Bukola James and Pellagia Njau. Their individual stories and collective accomplishments reflect the programme’s broader vision that focused on nurturing women who are not only participants in the Wikimedia ecosystem but also pioneers of inclusion and positive change.
As the 2025 Cohort graduates, we celebrate their hard work, shared learning, and transformative contributions. Their success reinforces the belief that when women are empowered with knowledge, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, they shape a future where African narratives thrive and representation truly matters.
